Blog experience

Today I am going to write about the experience I had writing this english blog. First I have to admit that this is not the first blog I write for english class, because last year I had to write one for another class, but this year it was a challenge because I had to write more words and the themes were more challenging.

The first blog I had to write was difficult because I didn’t know how to explain some things in english, but now I can explain better and I can see a difference in my first blog entrance and my last one (this one)

I have to say that I like writing about things I like. For example, I have an entrance about travel and gastronomy, that are things that I really like. Writing about thing I like makes it more easy to express my ideas.

Sometimes it was a challenge because I didn’t know what to write about some things related with journalism, I had to think a lot, but finally I realised that when you start writing, the words appear and you don’t have to make a lot of effort. It was difficult, but a good way to learn.

Free Topic: Gastronomy

Gastronomy is another expression of culture. If you don’t believe me, look outside and you will see how food is everywhere and how it represents the people that cook it. Here in Santiago, because of immigrants, we can discover venezuelan, colombian, peruvian culture only because of what they cook.

You can discover a lot of a country if you analyze the ingredients and the type of food they produce. For example in recipes from Venezuela and Colombia you can find a lot of beans, rice, and banana. That explains the weather they have there, it is hotter than here in Chile.

Also in Brazil they have a typical dish called Feijoada. The story tells that it was created in places where people didn’t have a lot to eat, so the mixed different ingredients in a common cooking pot so everyone can eat. The result of that was a delicious dish that mixes rice, beans, different types of meat like pork, bovine, lamb, etc. Also it has a typical ingridient called “farofa” that is a kind of smashed bread, but better.

Feijoada is an example that a dish is not that simple, it represents a part of history of a country and because of that we can say that it is culture.

An expert in your field

The degree of “expert” it is no given to anyone, but when you talk about sports, specifically football in our country exist one that marked a time and many generations, his name is Claudio Palma.

Definitely he is the rapporteur of matches that more full of emotions and sports analysis the story, his phrases are recognised by a whole generation, the most typical voice in the matches of our selection, “La Roja” (The Red), and one match is not the same thing when Claudio Palma relates. You can hear his voice and recognize this big sport journalist everywhere.

On the other side, to the known journalism he had the luck of be present in the best time for the Chilean Selection, Palma narrated when Chile consecrated itself as champion of América in two occasions, after winning against his historical rival and brother country, Argentina.

Everything was given so that this sports rapporteur established as one of the most dynamic and funny commentator at the time of watching a match or hearing one commentary about any player, team or championship.

The photojournalism is one expression of pure journalism, the importance consist in ts in driving themes of all sites of the world, like the war in middle East, political conflicts in South America, typical traditions of a particular zone, inside others.

The most important exposition in this matter is World Press Photo, and this is the page that I like the most related with my career. Since 1955, this mundial concurs every years and reunites hundreds photographers of varied countries with their personal work, they are the responsibles of delivering the information what is sought to transmit.

The website of the organization is an important tool for you to get to know the specific values or technical aspects about the photography, in this site you can see how the photographer achieves his work.

On the other side, for those of us that can´t wait, in this site can see all photos before being published in the itinerant exposition. Currently, the exposition is in our country until the 26 august in the “Espacio Telefónica”.

Free Topic: The diferent landscapes of Chile

Chile is a long and narrow country where you can find many different people, food and weather. In the first regions of the country the weather is dry and really hot, you can find desert and the most beautiful beaches of the country like “Playa la Virgen” in the third region near Bahia Inglesa.

You continue traveling and the desert begins to mix with a little vegetation and humidity. Here you can find La Serena and the beautiful Elqui Valley. The ground is rich in minerals, you can find many types of plantations and our delicious pisco made from grapes.

After you arrive to the Santiago valley where is colder, rains more, and the vegetation is bigger. You can see more and more plantations, and here the vineyards are awesome.

Now the south of Chile has the most beautiful landscapes that mix the big rivers and lakes with trees and plants. It is really cold, but you can do many things like trekking on one of the many national parks. Also you have many hot springs.

You can see Chile is really long with different landscapes that make it special.

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology without a doubt is a smartphone, on one hand is a very addictive and I consider what’s bad thing, but on the other hand is very necessary for our life, since facilitate the process of the communication among the people.

For my side, I use the cellphone all days, is the method whereby I relax and distract for some minutes, apart from take advantage from the facilities in the communication.

The smartphone have much uses that make our life most easy in some aspects, like play a game, call to other person, instant messaging, camera, connection to internet, maps for a better location and do not loss yourself, among many others.

There is no doubt that this device is very effective in its purpose, but you have to be careful with become addicted to this services.

Free topic - Travel to Brazil

In summer of 2016 I travelled to Brazil for some days. I went to three places, Rio de Janeiro, Paraty and Buzios. It was a nice trip were I ate a lot and I meet people and the culture of Brazil.

First in Rio de Janeiro I stayed for three days, enough to walk around the city. I went to "Pan de Azúcar", Santa Teresa, Coppacabana, Ipanema and a lot of places. The thing I liked more was eating Feijoada, typical food that is a mix of many ingredients like meat, rice, black beans and "farofa".

Next I went to Paraty where I ride bicycles and visited some beaches in a boat. It was really beautiful, like paradise. At last I went to Buzios and visited more beaches, but the best one I visited in a tour and they told us that it was the third best beach in the world.

But not everything was food and beaches, I discovered That Brazil is a really rich country in its cultures and it is a place I totally recommend.

A photograph I like

This picture was taken by Mister Osvaldo, worker of Institute of the Communication e image of the Universidad de Chile. It was captured after meeting class of the fourth year of journalism, for take a decision about student's political issues.

I like this picture, because you can see other worker of the institution, the Uncle Henry. This man is the emblematic member of our student community, is a very fun a person, but his team of football is the worst of our country.

On one hand, this day was very agitated because we had to make a decision, on the other hand, in the photography all members of the meeting are very happy, because this is an instance for sharing with the classmates.

Although, this photograph is not the best technically, it means much more for those who are present than for those who look at it. That's why I like this photo.

My espetations for the new semester

This semester is the first of the year 2018, for me is the first on the my fifth year of career. In this semester i have only four lessons, betwen them is the english class.

My expectations about this semester are mainly focussed on my thesis, because I have deliver in this year. The central theme about speak my work in the thesis, it has to do with the gastronomic art together that take place in our country.

Finally, what I expected from this semester is to spend a good learning and new experiences that will lead me to finish my studies definitively, with good califications and good results.

My autobiography

I´m Luciano Parra, student of Universidad de Chile. My date of birth is 14 febrary of 1995, in the Santiago of Chile, Estación Central in the neighborhood Villa Francia.

I go to de school in the same comune, in the "colegio Villa España", but i´m finish my studies in the Lord Cochrane School, a school a little different from the rest, we used street cloths and the schedule is a very short.

Now, I'm study journalism in the Universidad de Chile, in the fifth year, but my hobbies is not connected with this, because I like the cousine since before of start my studies in the University, this chose is the most important for my career.
